Driver side footwell cover too Low

Driver side footwell cover too Low
I have my 2012 RX for almost a month and haven't driven much untill last week when I went on a 1300 mile road trip. I noticed that the footwell cover on the driver side obstructs the foot movement when switching from accelerator pedal to brake pedal. I wear casual shoes.
Soon after I received the RX, I removed the panel to change the light to LED and thought I didn't reinstall it correctly. Last night I removed and reinstalled the panel. The panel is attached by two hooks, one tab and two screws and didn't see any attachments in the pedal area. I still have the same condition.
Are there any attachments that I am missing and does any one have this condition?
I averaged about 21.5 to 23.5mpg depending on the terrain(Detroit to Charlotte). Ride quality was great with quiet cabin.
