Default Auto headlight sensitivity issue anyone?

I have always want to ask this question but not that I run through tunnel very often do I tend to forget after a while. Anyways, this morning I was driving through a tunnel again and that reminded me of the automatic headlight system on my 2011 RX. I have always think there is always too much delay. The light won't turn on itself until I reach half way through the tunnel. Last year on a road trip to the Canadian Rockies, we went into a tunnel which had no lights and the stupid auto headlight did absolutely nothing until I had to turn it on manually. This has never become an issue on my BMW. their auto headlights comes on pretty much immediately when needed. I wonder if it is only my car that's is doing this.

Anyone experienced the same? Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

No. From my experience with the AFS, everything been great. I drive my wife rx with them on all the time. Love how they turn as you turn the corner, never fails. seems to always come on when i need them.

Very upset that its gone from the 2013.

There is a delay built into the system so when you drive through a shadow of a tree or such they don't come on. There is a light sensitivity adjustment on them. If you have the nav system it is in there under lighting settings.

I believe py0413 was talking about the auto on feature of the headlights, not AFS. Yes, there is about a 12 second delay when entering a darkened area. I made adjustments through the vehicles settings. Didn't notice a difference in the amount of time it took. But I find the delay is better than having the headlights come on unnecessarily when going under an overpass or through a temporarily shady area.

Really? How come mine doesn't have it? I have AFS headlights and I also have Nav. I don't remember seeing a setting change in there.

Turn the RX on, go to main screen, setup, vehicle, vehicle customizations, light settings, light sensor sensitivity. Make sure you hit save when finished.

Actually my headlights do come on under an overpass if there is any delay due to possibly a turn signal. I was quite impressed the first time this happened.

Default Memorial Day

While this is a great weekend to start the summer with cookouts or a trip to the beach with the family let's all remember what the meaning of the holiday really is. A lot of our vets and their families gave much more than most would be willing to give so we could enjoy our weekends like this.

And everyone drive sober and aware, because there will definitely be some that don't. Two big races tomorrow woohoo
