Default Lighter Socket(Want to add)

I noticed the 2011 model I was given as a loaner had an additional lighter socket under the center console. What I'm wanting to do is add this option to mine, I need more sockets . So has any body done this and if so Pics/price? I would like to use OEM parts or looks if possible. Thanks.

Picture added from another members post.

Well finally pulled the trigger and just ordered from the dealer. Had to remove the center console to locate the wiring harness that was going to the other two outlets. Pretty easy, just located the white harness and metered out the wires, So far theres no issues

Nice job! Having those outlets in the console is a real pain. You almost need a flashlight to hook up a USB item.

That's a neat update, inexpensive too. If you post up installation instructions with pictures (if you have them), I'll add it to the FAQ/DIY thread.

Now all that's left is to remove the Lexus lettering on the tailgate and you've jumped to an '11 or '12 RX

Well I wanted to take more pictures but heat started to take a little toll on me, as far as directions I can happily assist but ever thing just snaps apart so pretty easy, just used my Meter and soldering iron. I do have one question that yellow box under that same panel were the socket is now that little box states YAW CONTROL, any ideas on this?

That's very reasonable.

The Yaw control is part of the safety features on the RX. It senses the pith and angle of the vehicle. Notice it was was placed dead center from side to side, There is also one that sets between the rear seats. The electronics on this car amaze me.

BTW, nice job on the lighter socket, that actually is a reasonable cost.

Cool!

My 2011 has it but my phone charger was a bit short, so I bought an extra long one on eBay. Then I upgraded to a Razr Maxx and my battery life is now so long that I almost never will need a mid-day charge. But it is nice knowing it is there if needed.

Flew in PAVEhawks here....you can now add pedals for tail rotor to the RX by tapping into that box LOL.

So it looks like you tapped into a green wire on the driver's side plug, then routed that red wire down and aft, then forward to lower socket? Nice job and thanks for another idea.

Yea that green wire I metered out and it goes directly to the other two sockets in the pocket that I probably not use much.
