The "mould" that you saw might actually be the natural colour of the charcoal impregnated HVAC filter - brand new, the element looks like mottled grey/black.

Here is old vs new:

The part number is 87139-YZZ10, just in case the photo is hard to read.

In the USA, you can also get the Toyota carbon impregnated HVAC filter that fits perfectly - part number is 87139-YZZ10.
This seems to be a common part amongst many Toyotas. I bought a heap back from my last USA trip for my LandCruiser, and it's also fully compatible with the Lexus.

Default Interior cabin filter guidance

Looking to get a HEPA cabin filter. Anyone have brand recommendation or used the HEPA and found it to be worth using?

I think a car HEPA filter (if such a thing exists) would restrict the airflow too much. I had to throw out a charcoal filter after 3 weeks because it restricted the airflow so much my wife complained the A/C was broken. Do not recall the filter brand. You really just want it to stop major dirt etc from the car. Remember we all survived driving in cars without cabin air filters before they became popular 15 years ago.

Default where do you get air filer and cabin air filter

Model is 2015 LEXUS RX 350AWD 4dr. Need to replace air filter and cabin air filter. Checked youtube video and seems pretty easy to get them replaced. Can you please recommend a good source to buy them? Thanks!

If you are ordering a whole bunch of parts, check out Rock Auto. I've ordered from them before and prices are excellent.T charge for shipping though..... Use the discount code here:.

Please enter this code in the ‘How Did You Hear about Us’ box to receive the discount. Please enter ONLY the discount code, no other words or numbers. All orders are placed online and the discount code must be entered before an order is submitted to receive the discount.

if you are just ordering the air filters, try Walmart.com. Free shipping. And recently I sold my CT200h sooner than expected and had two oil filters I bought from them and asked for return. Walmart refunded my money and told me to keep it or donate it or whatever I wanted to do with the two oil filters. I even offered to take them back to a local Walmart, but they said no need.

For OEM parts, go to

MyLparts.com

There is a discount code for it, but I can not recall right now. I think it was CL5

GOOD LUCK.

Just about any big-box auto parts store will carry the proper filters. Or order online from amazon.com or rockauto.com. You can usually find better deals online rather than in a store.

I was originally want the OEM part, CL5 gives 10% off. But shipping is around $19 for me, which added total of $58.
I searched amazon and picked good reviews, above 4.5+, one is 1000+ reviews and the other is 7000+. Shipped under $20. Hope they work fine.

Thanks lexusrus and RX in NC!!

I order cabin and air filters from rockauto. As long as you are paying for shipping, consider adding windshield wipers as well. Much cheaper online.

We have three vehicles I maintain. Adding all items on one order really saves money.

That's really a good Tip. I'll have to plan better so buy more needed parts in one order.

Yes, indeed.

I just placed a large order from Rock Auto for our 3 Lexus and 1 MB cars. The parts are arriving in different boxes, from different warehouses, different days with the last box arriving tomorrow.

The windshield wipers are very reasonable and the brake pads too.
