Auto Headlight Off Feature

It seems to me that the auto headlight off feature only works when I shut off the engine and leave the vehicle (ie, door open and close to start the default 30 second count down before auto headlight shut off). In other words, if I shut off the engine and decide to stay in my vehicle without opening and closing the door, then the headlight will not shut off automatically. Is this normal? I look around the vehicle customization menu but did not find anything on auto headlight shutoff without leaving the vehicle (ie, open and close the door).

I believe that the opening and closing of the door is what triggers the timer. I know if you leave the door open the lights will not go out and the countdown does not start until all doors are closed.

If you intend to stay in the car, turning the headlight control on the stalk to OFF should turn them off immediately for you without having to open/close the door.
