Unhappy Key Fob Died

Is anyone else having trouble with dead key fobs on their RX? They keep die-ing. The car was new in September of 2010 (it's just a pup) and used 10 batteries since then. Crazy weird. Any ideas?

Ten batteries in less than a year sounds like you have a problem fob. Are both fobs dying? My 2006 IS has only had it's battery replaced once so far. Talk to your dealer.

Batteries died in both fobs. Dealer asked me to document it. No recommendation yet.

I bought batteries for my key fobs but then I found out that my dealer automatically replaces them during one of the maintenance intervals each year. Mine will be 2 years old in October and the dealer replaced the batteries last October.

The battery changes are part of routine service now. But I'd rather fork out the $6 and replace them all myself. They're changed once a year. But 10 batteries in less than a year is ridiculous. I hope the dealer can figure it out.

Something is obviously wrong. We traded our 2001 RX in April and we NEVER changed the battery in either fob. That is ten years on the same batteries.

By any chance are you leaving the fob inside the car? If so the transponder continually replies and will kill the battery in the fob.

To that.

Also, leaving storing the two fobs close to one another can also contribute to this.

Don't hang them on a refrigerator or right next to magnets.

I have a fob in my other car and it has been there for 12 years.

The RX fob been there for 1.5 years.

I am thinking of the fob being shorted. But for both fobs?
