Windows and back hatch open unexpectedly

But maybe my simple assumption is incorrect anyway - perhaps the keyless fobs are encrypted and encoded in some sophisticated way that obviates duplicates.

First attempt, I'll look for more info:

Lexus isn't specifically mentioned.

The article doesn't mention Lexus, but it DOES mention Toyota, so I think it's reasonable to assume that Lexus uses the same technology.

It had definitely happened to me b4 with the windows with my old 07 is.
But of course, i could not replicate the problem to the service dept to file a legit complain.
My audi tt did it to me back in 2002 on a rainy day parked outside. Ruined my leather seat!!!! T^t.....

windows and sunroof open with no command
I experienced a similar problem. The first time I was at the office and someone told me the windows and sunroof were open. I thought maybe i did something. The next time my car was at home in the garage, and when i got up in the morning, the windows and sunroof were open again. This time i know the FOB was sitting on a table, not in a pocket. Also had the speed dials cleared earlier in the evening before that happened. I just came out to my car and all the speed dials were gone (the ones i programmed manually into the car system). I took my car to Lexus today to see what the issue is.
My car is a 2012 RX350

Have to ask, where is the second remote? Keeping the key fob in a pocketbooks does not keep this phemonenon from happening. I know
David, I had the key fob in my pocket yesterday, reaching down to pick up branches that fell after Saturday's windy weather and the alarm went off. Never happened to me before. Geez is that sucker loud. Thank God I was several feet away. Otherwise I would have been hanging from a branch that didn't hit the ground

I have noticed that when you have 2 keys in the car (the card and the remote real key the ones with all remote functions) the car is biping when you are close to the sensors (front doors and tailgate. Strange but real.
I have also loted that when you have the remote key (with all functions) in your pocket and the "card" key inside the car, you may have bizarre reactions and bips (door closing and opening...) don't ask me why . I really do not know. But this happens mostly when washing the car (using high pressure washing pipe), the bip particularly.
About the windows opening, it's certainly a long pressure on the key which open the windows and roof.

Am interested In what Greg2012 finds with the dealer on the windows opening by themselves when the keyfob is a long distance away.
For what it's worth, my 2009 BMW had some of the other symptoms being noted... Remote in pocket, alarm or doors opening; once had windows go down seemingly by themselves when I was outside the car, but remote was in my pocket while I was working in my garage. I wrote all those situations off to the buttons being pushed while in my pocket some way or other. I also had the odd problems with doors locking/unlocking when washing the car and water being sprayed on various locations (not just the door handles). Again, the remote was in my pocket. My resolution to all of this was to keep the remote hung up several feet away from the car when washing or doing work around the garage. I sort of figured out how far away I had to be so the remote would no longer be within range. At least for all these symptoms, it would appear the technology used by the Germans exhibits the same challenges as the Japanese-built versions being seen in Lexus.
