is there a diy for the oill change for our car somewhere?

also is there a toyota part number for the oil filter? i dont want to have to pay $15 bucks for an filter from lexus.

I just bought mine, but I wrote a procedure for my LS a while ago. If one doesn't materialize here by the time I put in 10K miles, then I will put one up. Procedure-wise, it should be quite similar to my previous one; the filter, oil, drain plug gasket are the same, only the car, and component locations are different. The cost of the filter from your "Toyota" dealer should be about $5-6 max...

For the 2010 RX 350, it's a lot simpler than the previous models
Don't need ramps, Look under car behind front bumper. the oil filter and oil sump are in the open adjacent to each other. Change oil filter as shown in previous message. Drain oil from sump and replace washer on drain plug. You need a 64mm cup to unscrew the filter housing after you drained the oil from the filter. You also need a 15/16 socket to attached to the filter cup wrench. I did the change on my 2010 RX 350 in 30 minutes and it was the first time. Torque the cap with new o-ring to 10ftlbs, the filter to 18ftlbs and I torqued the drain pan plug to about 20 or so ftlbs. 30ftlbs seemed to much.

Also, remember the oil capacity for the RX is 6.5 US quarts (6.1 L) with filter change, and 6.0 US quarts (5.7 L) without. My linked procedure is for the larger V8 engine in the LS. I highly recommend a filter change each and every time.

i like to buy my filters at my local toyota dealer, so i just wanted to know if there is a toyota part that is basically the same as the lexus part number.
like the lexus isf uses oil filter 04152-51010 but if you go to the toyot dealer and get 04152-YZZA4 that is for the toyota tundra it is the same filter but at the toyota dealer is cost me $5 and at the lexus dealer it is almost $15 bucks.

Yes, and it will come in a Toyota box. The filter for the RX is Part No. 04152-YZZA1...

By the way, I get mine from my Lexus dealer which is co-joined with a Toyota showroom next door. They give me the same price I would get if I walked there. Some unethical Lexus dealers prey on a buyer's ignorance, but hey who's going to try and stop them..?

CORRECTION: The Toyota Part No. is indeed 04152-YZZA1 as posted below by lx470man

Basically, you are saying 04152-51010 is the same filter as 04152-YZZA5, but Lexus changes the part#, and charge 10 bucks more?

I've never held both in my hands, but when I ordered the filter from Lexus "for a LS600", they gave me the 04152-YZZA5, in a Toyota box; and it worked "on the LS600". Perhaps it is not worthwhile carrying the 04152-51010 in Canada, or the Lexus Parts people are smart enough to tell the difference. Obviously when I first ordered a box of 10 from Lexus, the Toyota parts guy cross-referenced it to their own, rather than keeping me waiting for a "fancy box" identical filter.

This was for my LS which fortunately has the same unit as the RX.

INCORRECT! this is not the right part number for the rx350. i went out and bought it and just realized that it is not the same size filter! i was stuck at home with a car with drained oil and no ride to the dealership to change the filter! and on top of that they were closing in 1 hour! MAN, this just goes to show you make sure you know what your buying before you do any work. ithought i could trust members answers but guess not. well just for future reference for people that want to know the right part number it is
04152-YZZA1. NOT!!!! 04152-YZZA5

Completed the 20K oil change. It was very straightforward and easiest of any oil changes I've done on others cars I owned.

Went to a Toyota dealer and purchased:

1. Oil filter element incl. gaskets (04152-YZZA1 as noted elsewhere) $5.41
2. 7 quarts of house synthetic 0-20W @ $7.21 each
3. 1 drain plug washer(AKA gasket) $1.31
4. house oil filter wrench (64mm x 14) $10.99

Total was $68.18.

Next time I wouldn't have to buy the oil filter wrench lowering the cost < $60.

Followed the torque guidelines which rftuck stated above.

Everything is easily accessible from underneath the RX350 and there are no annoying plates to remove.

The RX350 has a clean method to drain the oil that remains in the filter housing unit. You unscrew the bottom portion of the filter (AKA the cap) prior to removing the filter housing unit. My Toyota filter replacement element kit included a small plastic piece which you insert into the filter housing after you have removed the cap. It kinda looks like a liquor bottle pouring spout. This will allow you to drain most of the oil from the filter housing unit.

Took the used oil to the local Jiffy-lube and was done start-to-finish in 1 hour.

Thanks to all the posts on this topic. Just DIY'd the oil change on my 2010 Rx350. Thanks to all your research and tips I pulled it off in 35 minutes. Secret was Rhino ramps and all the right tools. It feels good to get back into my own TLC on the car.

Ok so, what would a Lexus service center say if you did a print out of this and show them these prices, would they match it??
