Picked this one from pepboys for under $10: http://www.pepboys.com/product/detai...54/?quantity=1.

Tried 65mm, but that was spinning around and barely gripping edges with its rounded end.
This one fits like a glove (also semi-fits 65mm filter for my bike)

I changed my oil and filter yesterday. Thanks to this forum for the tips. In my 2010, there is no need to remove any plastic shroud or any cover. The oil filter assembly is accessible and the oil drain plug. I did remove the plastic undertray but realized I did not have to. The torques are easy to remember. Its 10-20-30 ft-lbs. 10 for the oil assembly drain cap, 20 for the oil filter drum and 30 for the oil drain plug.

Funny thing my 2000 RX300 was the same way, no jacketing to get at the filter or drain plug.

One thing I do that most don't do seeing the oil filter goes on straight up, is full the filter canister with oil BEFORE reinstalling to get oil faster to the engine on start-up................

That is good idea to pre-fill the filter housing.
I do that all the time for my X5.

I'm sure those 10-20-30 should be in N.m and not ft-lbs. 30 ft-lbs of torque will definitely strip something, and you'd be lucky if the bolt is the only thing that's stripped and not the oil pan.

Default Oil filter housing torque

I just changed the oil in my 2010 RX350 and the housing body has 25 +/- 5 N marked on it so don't torque that to foot pounds.

Not everything drains out 100%. You still have residual oil hanging out and about in the engine's internal and that can account for the 0.5qt difference.

And just a friendly reminder... you never never have to fill the oil to the max. The oil level is perfect as long as it's in between the min and max marks on the dipstick. Over filling the oil, even by 1/4 qt, can and will do damage.

Any favorite sources for filter kits? There are a bunch on Amazon - just wondering which ones you guys like? Looking for the filter element, gaskets, and drain plug crush washer.

Thanks.

i get the filters on ebay. Original Toyota filters with gaskets can be found $5 each in a pack of 5. Also packs of 10 crush washers can be found cheap, IIRC they are just M12 aluminum, copper or fiber washers.
