Default Trunk Beep/Not Opening

This has happened a few times to me in the RX. I pull up somewhere, put the car in Park, and I try to open the trunk by holding the trunk open button on the lower left dash. Nothing happens except the car makes 2 beeps.

Nothing is blocking the trunk and the valet button is not pressed. I then go park somewhere else and the button works again. Am I missing something?

Fleainat -

Bad switch or sensor.

If the motor in the rear hatch assembly was bad it would not open at all - a problem I had - twice - when I had a 2004 RX330. Good to have extended warranty at times like those.

Of course, when you take it in to the dealer it will work perfectly...good luck!

So many interlocks. I find this happens when I put it into park, open my door, use the door switch to lock the doors, then press the dash switch for the hatch. So now, when I need to open the hatch, I press the dash switch first after I park.

Put it in Park, UNLOCK all doors, and THEN hold down the TRUNK OPEN button.

I assume all your componets are functional and working right. In this situation, I agree with Sani_k's reply. "UNLOCK" doors prior to pressing the trunk open button.

I learned this from the carwash guy... a long time ago.

Thanks guys -- I will try this out. The driver door was definitely unlocked, but it's probably because the other doors were not unlocked. Weird.

Doors locked maybe? This beeping you describe sounds familiar

I know that at least the driver's door was unlocked. I got out of the car and looked in the back to make sure nothing was blocking the trunk, but it still didn't open. It could be that the car was just confused (happened daily in my 5 series), because it worked later that day...

Unless all doors are unlocked I don't think will open. I recall several times it happend when I approached from the driver side, never from the passenger side (since all unlock from passenger side)

Default Possible Fix

In the glove compartment on the right side is a lockout. Press it so the button it in and that will fix the problem.
