Default Power liftgate button question (merged threads)

Please tell me there is a way to open the rear liftgate by pushing the button in the rear? I know you can open it by power from inside and remote but for some reason not the rear button?? It makes no sense to me. My wife never takes the remote out of her purse so it seems silly to have to dig in your purse to find the remote.

Button by the license plate only unlocks the tailgate.
It does not open up automaticly. I agree this is a silly feature, my GMC Acadia opened and closed from the outside automaticly.

I do agree Lexus can do something to this.

IMO, which car can equip with all the "necessary" and "good" features? Even though you spent 140K to get Porsche Cayenne Turbo, you may find it one day that your RX has something better. I mean none of cars can be perfect without silly stuff.

The online owners' manual seems to be offline right now so I couldn't double check, but isn't this one of those dealer set customization settings?

Yes, it can be changed to power lift when pressing the button. I left mine as it is.

yes possible to change through LPS but only by lexus. You have to do it within 1,000 miles or 5,000 or else they will charge you.

Very interesting. Does this mean the backdoor can be opened automatically when pressing that opener button? And, this can be made by Lexus dealer, right?

I thought you have to lift and raise the door after pressing it. It won't go up automatically. To use the remote or the switch insides the car are the only ways to open it automatically.

Turns out it is 30 days/1,000 miles but im sure they will still do it for free.

Since I do not have the LPS list for the 2010 model, this is from the 2004-2009 RX330/350. I assume they would not change it.

I also checked mine yesterday, but couldn't find any related info.

Please kindly show us the page numbers if any of you can find it. Thanks very much. I'd love to have this feature programmed.

Can someone post a list of the programable features? I got a card about the 1K mile service but it didn't list any of the features.

Went to my dealer today to have this changed to automatic open when you press the button on the door, it can not be changed on Canadian vehicles. They said, just use the remote to open it automatically.

The whole point is to be able to open the rear lift gate automatically. Every other vehicle that opens automatically can be done on the exterior. To be able to only do it on the remote doesn't make sense. Lexus has gotten many things wrong with this generation of the RX. I should've gotten another X5.
