For the reason that has been mentioned above. Breaking in the engine for the first thousand mile is better with dino oil than synthetic because synthetic is too slippery.
You would think the very best oil for the first 5000 miles or 6 months, is the oil Lexus puts in every new car? Lexus no longer recommends the 1000 mile oil change.
I can't understand why anyone on receiving their new car would drain the oil out and replace it with dino oil?
First 25k oil change is done free at the dealership? Is this true for every lexus dealership?
I was told no its not being done by all Lexus dealership. My dealer is one of them that provides this special service. In fact, all work for the first 25k is free. They will also provide somebody to drive the loaner to your house, pick up your car and return it to your house when its done. I think that is great service and a great marketing advertisement.
I just pulled out the ad. It says its a Luxury Complimentary Services- Loaner Car, Towing, Roadside Assistance, and Maintenance Services (All Lexus scheduled maintenance as outline in the manual is paid for by the dealership).
Pretty good deal I think.

You might misunderstood me. I am not saying to drain the oil and put in dino oil ??? If I have the choice I would break it in with dino and then put synthetic after 5K. But it can be difficult because the dealership will do the oil change for you. In my other cars I have done that.

You are not obligated under any contract terms to go to the dealer for the free 5k oil change. There is no point in putting synthetic after 5k, in any case. I've only just started using synthetic, and my car is at 12k miles.

IMHO. To me, I'd think it's the part of the deal you have had with the dealership. My dealer was willing to give me more free oil changes, but I preferred to getting more discount off MSRP instead.

When I was negotiating for the price, the 25K free maintenance was not even mentioned. I did not even think of it either. I was happy with the final price. For my case the 25k was not a deciding factor. Maybe for others. It was nice to have it though.
