Now that the new car honeymoon is over and I'm being more objective about our RX, I feel that the standard (non-ML) stereo system is a bit...quiet.

The problem might be that we have a Bang&Olufsen in our other ride, but still, my stock honda accord speaker system was louder.

Any suggestions to pump up the sound while maintaining the factory appearance? New speakers? or is the amp in the stock system just too weak?

Upgrades can definitely be made. I did it in my 04 but fair warning it can be expensive and the end result may not be exactly what you want. I'd start with finding a great installer and see what they would suggest based on what you want to achieve.
