haha what is the base or nakamichi system? i have nothing but what came stock with the car...and im on a budget of about $500...i dont want anything special, just something thatll give me really good bass and hits pretty hard
i started with some jl audio 10s in the back in their powerwedge box...it fits pretty well in the back but you ain't gonna win no competitions with that set up i'm runnin' the stock head unit, as are the majority of us here, but i ran it to a rockford amp with an adjustable bass controller and built in low pass to filter out only bass to the subs...it is ok for how i listen to my music...i don't want the kid and the dog to go deaf, ya dig ebay will be your friend...aight! good luck, kiddo

Nakamichi was an upgraded stereo option in your 2000 model.
Since you just want strong bass and no need to boost existing speakers, you may be better off with an integrated woofer/amp setup. My personal favorite in this class is the Infinity BassLink T. For under $500, it gives you 250 watts of kick *ss bass that'd scare your neighbors. The unit has everything you need, including an integrated amp and an adjustable controller - all in one box.

I agree with HarrierAWD. For your budget I'd go with the Basslink and maybe some upgraded component speakers up front if the budget allows. The added bass will make the rest of the system sound a LOT better. The Infinity Basslink is on sale right now at circuitcity for $329.99 so that leaves you $170 for a decent set of components up front. Good luck.
The $329 BassLink isn't any good. It uses paper woofer (though Circuit City says polymer, which is wrong) that won't sound as good nor kick as hard. The $499 BassLink T utilizes polymer woofer and looks fantastic in the trunk. Circuit City does free installation if i remember correctly, so it won't bust her budget. She seems satisfied with existing speakers, just wants bass that hit hard. So I didn't recommend any speaker upgrade.

No, I don't. I listen to mostly country-western so I don't need a super woofer. Here's the image from Infinity's website. You'll need a custom-built cabinet with matching finish. Any audio shop can do this.
