Default Dome light not LED?!?

so after 2 days of ownership, i can't believe that the front and rear dome light on our 450h is not led. i mean the spot reading lights for driver, front and rear passenger are led...why not the dome lights? ugly incandescent yellow bulbs...yuck.

anyone know off hand what bulb size the dome lights are?

somebody in the forum switched every conceivable bulb in/outside of the car with an LED, maybe this thread will catch his eye and he can comment.

I know a lot of cars that do this. My mercedes does this as well, where only the reading lights are LED. Theory behind it being, if its for reading, then the LED gives better illumination and the light is easier on the eyes and mimicks natural sunlight better. However, i like the yellow for the dome cause its more relaxing and less like a hospital. for some reason, to me, yellow bulbs are less "sterile"

The bulb in the rear luggage area is incandescent as well. I doubt you can switch them to LED because they're designed to 'fade' out as the timer cuts them off. If I remember correctly, one of the settings you can adjust from the NAV screen is the timer for these. Hey, it's one last link to yesterday .

just like fluorescent bulb can't be use/function in multi-stage lamps, LED bulbs can't be use where lumination "phase-out". LED in all area where lights just turn-off such as reading light, top console pointer light, door sill, and rear license light are all LED.

with that note, direct LED replacement bulbs can be purchase as plug-play. one of the forum member mentioned about replacing the front "dummy light" that comes on with parking or headlight. this dummy light is found on all Lexus but I am not sure the purpose of of such a low powered light. i wonder if you can replace it with LED strip to make it look like Audi DRL. that would be awesome mod.

I'd settle for any kind of light to illuminate the garage door opener button !
Lexus sure missed the boat on lighting up the Homelink buttons.

Ditto there. I bet the next model has those buttons 'LED' backlit through the numbers. Simple fix. No significant battery drain.
