Default Heated and Ventilated Seats

Bought a 2015 RX 350 Base about 3 weeks ago. Only 69K miles. Heated and ventilated seats barely work. Seats get just warm on highest setting and highest ventilation seating is barely noticeable. Something wrong or is this normal?

Cannot speak to the heated seats because I despise that feature and never use it. As for the ventilated seats, I have always believed it is just a gimmick. The ventilated seat feature in my wife's 2015 RX350 has never done anything during our ownership (we purchased the vehicle in late October 2018).

That sounds normal.

Never used it in the wife's RX. It's hot here in August. I wouldn't expect much. If I lived up north in February 'just warm' might feel pretty damn good!

Haven't checked seat heating but seat cooling works good in this car which has new cabin air filter and seems to depend on AC fan setting and closing some of the dash and rear seating area vents.

The seat cooling feature works just fine in my 2015 Rx350, however you got to change the cabin air filter for proper air flow. An old clogged up cabin filter will reduce how much air flows to the seat from the blower.

As for your seat warmer, you may have a bad heating element in the seat itself that needs replacing or maybe the control switch is bad.

My heated seats get very hot quickly.

The seat cooling feature has nothing to do with the cabin air filter, the seat fan isn't even tied to the HVAC system. It pulls air from under the seat, in the rear seat toe box, and there are even 3d printed vents available to redirect the rear seat foot vents into the seat fan. You can pull the entire seat out of the car and you never have to disconnect any vents. The seat heat and cooling is self contained within the seat other than the controls and power/wiring.

Absolutely correct.

Really? Where can I find such? I have been thinking of a way to do exactly that.

Here's one, definitely on the pricey side among others I've seen. You might see if you can find a file and print it locally, some libraries have 3d printers available and I've found people in my small town willing to do it in local fb groups too. I tried to find someone to do one for my 23 RX, only to realize the seats now suck instead of blow, so it's pointless. Also if you want to be cheap, I've rolled up the edge of the floor mats against the bottom of the front seat, to block off the under seat area.

I "assumed" that the fan under the seat pulls cool air from an air duct under the seat that is tied to the AC blower. I could be wrong since I really did not research the RX350 cooled seat function properly. However, it does make sense that it does not since it would pull hot air when the heat is turned on.

I do remember repairing an Genesis G80 cooled seat that was not working due to duct that goes to the seat fan being split which required just some ducting tape to seal up and the seal cooling function worked again.

Maybe the same can be said of the RX350 poor performing cooled seat, maybe the duct to the seat fan came loose or is damaged.

Mine work great and I use them all the time in Texas.
Air flow isn't as good as later models, but the newer cars have a noisy fan.

It's one of my favorite features.
Check to make sure your undersea vents aren;t covered up by loose paper or something else.
One of mine was when I first got the car. Also, rear floor mats sometimes work their way under seats.
