I got out of my 2011 RX yesterday to help an elderly passenger get in the car. I had left the car running, but when I got back in, I had a “key not detected” warning light. I then went back home and got my back up key fob But both keys tested well and neither caused the “key not detected” light to go out. This morning I went down and tested the keys and the car recognized them both. Any ideas on what the problem might be and how to correct it. Thanks,
IMHO there is no issue at hand. If any replace the batteries of both KeyFOBs. By bringing in the second key confused the system. It all resets when the vehicle is turned off and turned on again.
Does your display show weak key battery message? My 2011 450H does.
FYI ... the warranty and service manual has a line item to replace the keyFOB batteries based on time & milage [For batteries the time is of higher significance and is for both FOBs].

The RX350(and other makes with key-less ignition) shows the key fob not detected message when you leave the car running while removing the key from the car. It is a normal message for that type of situation.
