Can I tow with no tow package?
I have a 2010 RX450H with no tow package
I have a 400lb motorcycle that I would like to tow with a small 520lb trailer about 1 hr 20 minutes away to drop it off to get worked on. Not totally flat but definitely no hills.
I relayed this info to a local Lexus dealer (asked the parts guy) he says in his experience he sees no problem with this.
I don't have a hitch installed yet but have called around for quotes.
I'm a safe slow driver, does anyone see any issues with this?
I'd appreciate any feedback, thank you

Is it AWD or FWD?
If FWD then it is not recommended and most likely shops will refuse to install hitch. If you do a self install or convince shop that you will sign a waiver for liability,
Either way evaluate the cost of install [parts + labor + tax], + trailer rental vs truck .
Salim
PS: Since your RX is not traller ready, you will most likely require an electronic module for turn/brake/tail light. My guess is that such a kit from Lexus will run you close to a grand by the time you pay for the labor.

It's an AWD....i was at the hitch shop yesterday because they wanted to see the trunk to look for this plug which they said makes the job way easier/cheaper....is this the electrical plug you're talking about?
Also, in the manual it does say something about, without the tow package it's not recommended to tow....I bring this up because the Lexus guy said the frames/suspension/etc are all the same its just that when people want to tow something heavy like 3500lbs, they would want the tow package because obviously the car needs to be cooled down, etc due to the heavy load
thanks for your help

Please list place like UHaul. The pros should be able to answer the questions you have.
Personally I would just rent a truck from HomeDepot for 3hrs times 2.
