My 2015 Rx 350 body has remained in pretty good condition over all. As the winter has calmed here in Chicago and washed and did a walk around my car and I have what looks like a rock or object scrap the side of a door, didn't dent it, but it went down to the metal. I also have the same scrap down to metal on my tailgate. As well as on the passenger side my bumper looks like either something scrap the paint down to the plastic on the bumper.
None of the above are dented appear to be.
The bumper has been like that for over a year and is very unsightly to me since the car is white and the bumper is a black plastic.
My question is that the paint on my vehicle is a two step white and the dealer is telling me that the touch up paint is two different paints and can be done by me, expensive too $27.00 each.
I'm wondering what you guys think about what is the best way to fix these and frankly, maybe a detailer might be better at doing the work than me.
Your thoughts and recommendations would be very much appreciated.
Take it to a couple of local car detailers and a couple of body shops and get some estimates. Estimates are free. After speaking with a few of these folks you will have a general idea of the cost and a feeling about which one you want to perform the work. Do some hunting on Yelp and Google to find places nearby that have decent reviews.
I have used the Lexus 2 part touch up paint and it does not really match that well on Starfire Pearl (white). Get a pro to take care of it.
That is the color, I talked to the guy (childhood friend) who painted my new bumper at the local Toyota dealer, he doesn't work there any more but he told me that it is a 3 stage color and the touch up paint doesn't work very well, he said "it was 50% clear and needed 4 coats". I feel bad asking him questions about my car 'cause I haven't talked to him since he did the work, I'm a bad friend, I was trying to use self-help for this issue.
It looks like I could have posted this in a different forum too but thank you, Clutchless, for your feedback!
