Default Strut Boot - Essential?

I had my drivers side suspension rebuilt last year after an accident and noticed last weekend they either reused the old strut boot - which is not doing it's job. Is there an easy fix to replace the boot, or are they essential?

Thanks

The boot protects the shiny piston from dirt that would score (scratch) the piston and cause a leak.

The Strut Boot is not essential for Safety,if you live in a salt environment it could make the Strut Wear out faster

Anything that gets into strut seals kils them. Ive had a few rebuilt on bikes because of stone chips or dust buildup and lack of cleaning. My gs460 one failed after dust boot died a few years prior..
To replace them you have to compress the springs and take the mounting cap off.

Take it back to get it repaired correctly, as well have them do the other side as well.....As they'll have to redo the toe settings as well....Once you bust down the suspension, it'll need to be realigned, toe setting front & rear at least.
