searched "backup lights", "reverse lights"; saw lots of threads expressing dissatisfaction with OEM, did not see these bulbs discussed.

Lucky you; you must back up in well-lit areas.

I've never seen any threads/post saying anything about the oem back up bulbs problems. The reverse lights are for the most part for other drivers to know your intentions......

Nope, just the same streets as I have w/ other vehicles, trucks & other cars....I always turn my head around to see vs watching the reverse camera thru the nav screen.

If you need brighter lights, I'd think you'd just swapout the oem style reverse bulbs w/ led ones, possibly even swapout the tail & brake bulbs as well.

I would guess there are hundreds of threads/posts complaining about backup visibility, and a few about the purpose of backup lights in general; oddly none I've seen have comments about never having seen such a thread:
"I do not want to bring back a discussion of what reverse lights are for but I know that I can't see anything when I'm backing up at night in a street that is less than well-lit. Our other car lights up the road really well and I would like to get that same thing in our 2007 RX."
"
Swapped Back-up Lights for LEDs...Huge difference! Did this because tough at night to see backing up with tinted windows."
"I've removed the lens covers from the backuplights and although the light is now better - it's not great."
"...the only complaint we have is the dim back up lights."
"...have found that the
backuplights are not adequate..."

I have a home in the country. No streetlights so at night the only illumination is the moon, the stars, and the RX's crappy backup lights. I could turn my head around till the cows come home (they're right up the road) and that doesn't change the utter blackness.

I installed the
AGLINT 921 LED Bulb Reverse Lights W16W T15 Canbus Error Free Non-Polarity High Power 3030 22-SMD Chipsets 912 LED Backup Xenon White Bulb(Pack of 2) AGLINT 921 LED Bulb Reverse Lights W16W T15 Canbus Error Free Non-Polarity High Power 3030 22-SMD Chipsets 912 LED Backup Xenon White Bulb(Pack of 2)
a few months ago in my 2008 RX 350 after a recommendation from one of the posts on this forum. So far they have been excellent. Took only about 10 minutes to install them and the brightness really helps with my older eyes. Highly recommended. No idea yet how long they'll last.

I saw those in another thread Bob, they look very promising. I tried to find them on the US Amazon site and came up with
THESE THESE
. I wonder if "9SMD" is as bright as "22SMD"?

me, I'd be happy to get 2.5 years of rearward visibility, but I want the brighter 22-SMD bulbs, which seem to be available only in Canada. if only someone in Canada (BOB?) would agree to act as middleman....

I may be wrong, but it looks like these on Amazon.com might be the same as the ones I bought:
Amazon.com: AGLINT T15 W16W LED Bulbs CANBUS Error Free 22SMD T16 955 921 912 Wedge for Car Backup Reverse Lights: Automotive Amazon.com: AGLINT T15 W16W LED Bulbs CANBUS Error Free 22SMD T16 955 921 912 Wedge for Car Backup Reverse Lights: Automotive

You can also go to Aliexpress and buy similar ones there.

Good luck and if you still want me to buy some for you, let me know. I think though, that the shipping costs might be expensive relative to the cost of the bulbs.
