[QUOTE=Margate330;11300788]Thank you for the encouragement felix.
I got a little more lucky than you and was able to fix the code at the rubber lines under the hood, this time.

I know the day is coming the same code will get thrown again and I will have to do as you say and drop the exhaust and dig in there and replace the rubber lines at the gas tank evap components.
When I went under the car I wasn't sure if there was enough room to work without unhooking the exhaust or if I can just drop it down out of the way but from what you say it is doable if needed.

Space looks tight and info isn't very clear on the layout and exact location but I know it's under that heat shield and that's as far as I've gotten.
You can see part of the evap from the passenger side, when lying down between the sheild & floorpan......

anyone run a techstream EVAP test to pinpoint which area the leak is?
I am getting the CEL code and would like to minimize unnecessary parts.

Hi bcollins, looking at your pic this is same as my 2004 RX330.

The vacuum line in your pic with the green cap- this is the line I replaced on mine and I used a Bulk vacuum line like you mentioned.

After the green cap and following the vacuum line towards the firewall it eventualls splices into metal line from there- so basically I replaced ALL the rubber up to where it turns to metal.

PS- only takes a pinhole crack to suck air and throw code from my experience.

>> Hat's off to IMSQ for great walkthru thread! I forgot this thread existed. Sucks getting older, memory slipping lol
Margate330,...revisiting this,...,how did you get to hose #3 and whatever clamps are securing it. I have jacked up the car and removed the driver side wheel/tire,....and dont see anything that looks like hose #3 or a hose clamped to metal line.

Hi bcollins,

Are you are talking about the #3 hose in IMSQ's post #13 above?

If so it was was replaced from under the hood and I did not have to go under the car.
I may have removed the rubber intak boots and maybe the throttle body for access where the rubber hose ends I cant remember but I do remember that it was super easy.

On my car just behind those rubber intake boots it splices from rubber into metal so we are only talking just a few inches out of view from pic in post #13 above- not a long ruber hose at all.

PS- I don't think I had to remove throttle body, I'm sorry I can't remember.

Does anybody have a picture of the exact location of the EVAP hoses in engine bay of a 2008 RX400h? The engine setup in pictures in this thread looks a bit different than in my vehicle and I am interested in inspecting and perhaps replacing those hoses. Are they under air filter box? if so, is it easy to remove box?

This is related to a recurrent (random on and off) engine light/P1001 code (already replaced gas cap and mass sensor with OEMs), so I am guessing there must be leak somewhere.

Yes, you need to remove the airbox. Its very straight forward/easy task. All 10mm nuts/bolts if memory serves. My hose that traveled back behind the engine and down was split. I also replaced the purge valve. All good now.

Hi there,
I was in the process of removing the airbox to access vacuum hoses to replace as needed cause of codes P0101/P1420, and I found a tear of a big hose on right side near canister (see image). Sneaky tear since it underneath the hose in one of the depressions. I would like to replace this ASAP, does anybody know the part # (2008 RX400h)? can I replace just that segment of hose leaving rest of element intact or is a whole piece all together? also, can I replace this part without removing other things around (besides hose brackets obviously) thank you so much in advance!

Hi all, thanks for letting me join the forum. I'm having the same issue and so far have replaced the purge solenoid valve. This thread has been extremely helpful in the location of hoses that I will need to replace. I'm 79 and had no trouble removing the airbox and purge valve bracket, so if I can do it anybody can.

so how do I remove the hose under that black flat thing on #2 ?

Yes, I recently replaced the entire cold air intake hoses. There were cracks and even the smaller nipple that goes to the small hose to the purge valve, the whole thing was dry and hard. After a while the 1420 came back, there’s another leak yet to find.

how did you folks get to hose 3 and that hose clamp? maybe a long nose set of pliers may work from below but it's a very tight fit there.

remove some stuff and reach in there with your hand. It’s not too far “down.”

do you have the oem hose? I hope so, it’ll make it go smoother
