Default HID Question

Other drivers frequently flash their high beams at me even though I don't have mine on. Does anyone else with HID's have this problem or are mine out of adjustment. Which leads to my second question. Has anyone adjusted the height of their HID's. The last time I had to do this to a car it was a simple procedure which just involved turning an adjustment screw to get the headlights where I wanted them. I know the HID's have some kind of self leveling system but is there an adjustment of some kind?
Thanks,
Mike

I never had a problem with being flashed for my HIDs on either of my cars. My guess is that some people are just not used to seeing HIDs and thus flash you. There are so many cars with HIDs in Hawaii that nobody seems to really give it a second though anymore. It wasn't like that a few years ago though.

I have never had a problem with my HIDs on the RX300 or RX330. If you suspect they are misaligned - take your car back to the dealer or a reputable repair shop that knows how to check & adjust self leveling HIDs.

Factory HIDs have self levelling mechanism. Maybe something has gone wrong with it.

One cool feature of my FX45 is that it has an adjustment **** for the HID's - it allows a range of heights to help compensate for loads that you might be carrying, or if you are towing. With the sharp cut-off of light pattern it's pretty cool to play with, although for normal driving I leave it at the "0" setting. I asked my wife and she has not yet been flashed in her RX330, so it would appear that your's need to be adjusted as already suggested.

HIDs do create a scatter/glare even with their sharp cutoff that some drivers mistake for misalignment. Older drivers tend to be more glare sensitive and are probably the source of most of the "flashing".

Here's an article done by Consumer Reports a few months back that goes into greater detail.
