Default vacuum hose routing question

Hi All,

I couldn't dig up a good picture, but when inspecting the engine bay of our new to us 2004 I found a stray vac hose near the airbox, it was the thinner or two hoses coming up on the right side of the air intake snorkel, can someone provide a picture of what it is supposed to look like as the vac routing sticker under the hood is a bit ambiguous.

Thank you in advance!

Ian

Have fun! Mine broke an exhaust valve spring at 95K miles, pretty disappointed. Been a big job dropping subframe, rebuilding engine in a garage without a lift, patience is the key, and cleaning rags, a lot of rags....

>>> broke a exhaust valve spring? oh no! that sucks!!! how did u know thats what happened?

Sudden loss of power, (guess when combustion stopped in one cylinder, computer put it in limp mode). Would start cold, but as soon as O2 sensors warmed up would not idle warm at all. Fuel trims were very weird, to say the least. Of course, zero compression on #4 was the big diagnostic. I'll do a DIY write-up if I get it all running again, just finishing rebuilding the engine now, fresh valve jobs on both heads, all new seals etc.

$350 /head for valve job with all new springs and seals = $700 machine shop.
Engine gasket kit $200 + misc gaskets = $300

So only about $1,000 in direct cost, because the valve while bent, did not hurt piston or cylinder walls.

Of course, while you have the subframe out, new water pump, upgrade the oil cooler lines, the VVTi Bank1 line, new fluids, filters, plus chain winch, 6 ton jackstands to support the car high enough to clear the engine, added another $1,000.

So, about $2,000 DIY with new seals and upgraded parts. Woth it for me, since with only 95K miles, the rest of the car is perfect.

If a shop did it, there would be another $3K labor I'm sure, but it would have been done 2 months ago, lol! (It is stinking hot now in Houston, a few hours a day is plenty)

The 330's still had a timing belt, I think they went to the chain for the 350's.

that is correct. I have a 350 which does in fact use a timing chain. But! those can still have issues as the seal on the timing chain cover can eventually start to wear out; causing a oil leak. And the problem is to fix that is big bucks because i believe the engine actually has to come out of the vehicle to fix it.$$$$$. I just hope this doesnt happen to mine anytime soon which i dont believe it should as mine only has 148,000 and change miles on it.

To Mesquite77 (or anyone else that would know this info) I'm original owner of a 2008 Lexus RX350. Can you tell me the exact size of the orange vacuum hose that replaced the original black rubber one? I want to replace this with a silicone hose of the correct size to the original one. Tried NAPA, O'Reilly, and Auto Zone to zero avail. O'Reilly said that I need a size between 7/32 and 7/64 but couldn't give me a size in mm that will work as these hoses are generally listed by the roll at mm size. Mine is 15 years old original to the vehick and Lexus doesn't have just the hose to sell me. Mine is cracked at both ends and I want to future proof this from getting worse. Seems silicone is the best option as it last longer than rubber and allows the hose to bend into the shape needed (curved) Please advise.
