Default Front strut removal..remove axle??

Hi guys, i will probably change front struts. I was watching a video, where the axle nut was removed to make room for strut. Is it necessary to remove the nut? Is there enough room to do it with nut on?

I took both my (FWD) struts off, did not touch the axle or LCAs. I did undo the stabilizer link since I was dropping the sub-frame, not sure if that is even needed. I also hung the break calipers from a wire, and unscrewed the ABS sensor wires that are tied to strut.

Mesquitte. I have an awd model, but should be the same. I know you have to undo the links.
I don't think you need to undo calipers as they are more towards front of car, no?
Once you unbolted bottom bolts of strut, how did you actually get it out (bush strut inward and slide out)???

Dang things almost fall out once top and bottom bolts off, don't recall any problem at all, and they were lighter than I expected. Just undo the bolts and go for it.
