striped nut

Default striped nut

I was trying replace my struts in trunk I manage to replace one side by the right side it just striped the nut so i cut off the strut using hacksaw. how I remove the nut now so i can install new strut.

u can always drill the nut off... thats what i did >.>

Are you trying just to remove the nut so it can be used to fasten the new strut?

I'm confused--

If so just get a new nut from a hardware store-- $.75 --

Yes i am there is nut behind the bracket that i belive can't be removed. i gues i need to drill out the old screw as i broked part of it and the rest is stilll inside the second nut

i wish but it is stripped nut but now is broken off with part of screw left behind inside second screw so what I do now.

use a broom to prop it open when you need it to stay opened

First of all you can get a socket that removes stripped nuts. I believe you can get some at sears, but not sure if they have it in the size. Before you use the new socket, you have to heat up that area with a lighter because there is some chemical from the factory to prevent it from becoming loose. I almost stripped mine as well, but read the thread by howiedoit and the lighter did the trick.
