I normally like to keep the temperature at 21 deg C (70 def F). When it's hot and sunny out the AC blows like it's the middle of the Arctic. If I keep the auto set at 21, I freeze my nuts off (and my brain). I have to crank up the temp, usually to 24 to get the AC to slow down enough to keep the cabin comfortable. That doesn't seem right.
It seems the auto is not tuned very well. In my other car, keeping the temp at 21 will keep the cabin nice and cozy regardless of the season, except when it's really hot out, I usually lower it to 19 initially to get the AC working harder.
It only seems to be a problem when it's sunny. If a few clouds blow over, and shade the car slightly, the AC slows way down. I know the AC is supposed to compensate for direct sun, but this is just too much. Maybe Lexus put the temp sensor in a bad location?
Having to set my temp at 24 (75 def F) to get a comfortable cabin leads me to believe there's a problem.
Just wondering if anyone else is experinecing similar problems with the AC?
This topic had been hack to death at the Edmunds Forum. I set it at 25 degree Celcius in order to be comfortable and many have complain about the RX330 arctic cabin enviroment and peculiarity of the RX330 auto Climate control.
My Canadian RX330 is like this too (I have complained about the "intelligence" of the auto setting in another thread).
My concern about setting it at 25, apart from it looks stupid, is that when the outside temp is a very pleasant 21 or 22, I do NOT want the auto setting to be applying HEAT!
Could this be another electronics tweak like a C-Best setting or a recalibration of the temperature setting? Maybe they don't use the Celcius scale in Japan and are unaware that 25C is roasting?(!)
Also while I'm complaining about this (again), I'd like to mention that it is ludicrous that the Auto setting forces air condition to be ALWAYS ON. I live in Canada. Just how many months out of the year does one need A/C here?!?! [Actually I live in the paradise known as Vancouver; other parts of Canada, especially back East, do suffer from many months of humid unbearable heat]
hey, Lexterious, "don't they realize 25 deg C is roasting" That's pretty funny. I too live in Vancouver, and agree with you, but many areas of North America would think your crazy. I've had some out of town visitors come here, and say they're freezing when it's a beautifull 20 deg outside. Go figure.
I hope enough people complain to lexus, and come up with a fix. I too don't want heat added to my system when it's not needed.
You can program your Rx330 c-best compressor mode to manual than the A/C will not turn on every time you hit the auto climate button. Two cents that I would like to add is although the outside temperature may be below 25 dosen' t mean the cabin temperature is below 25 therefore heat is not necessarily turn on.

FANTASTIC! This tidbit, combined with another in another thread that suggested that C-Best can turn off the auto-recirc siliness, means that a couple of irritants will be removed when I bring in my RX for its 8000Km service.
Once again I'd like to say that the Club Lexus forums are a wonderful source of information!
I had my C-Best setting changed to manual today - it took less than 10 minutes. I've had several C-Best setting altered since delivery. Rear Hatch beep, door lock setting, etc.
I may be confusing the issue - I changed my auto circulation setting to manual - not the auto temp function. What I disliked was the a/c changing to fresh air vs recirculated air depending on the temp - I wanted to manually control that. Sorry for any confusion.

I asked my dealer if he could disable the rear hatch beep and he said no. Also, I wanted the delay after pressing the button for the hatch to open to be removed. Is this possible?
