Default Okay, very dumb question

Alright. I feel stupid for asking especially since I like to tinker on cars. How the heck do you remove the tail light bulb on the new RX330? I can get my hand on it but i can't twist it or pull it or anything. It is as if it is bolted down or something. The owners manual is of no help as it jus tells you the locations of the bulb. Nothing is wrong with it, but someone is claiming the RX330 has LED brake lights and I don't think it does. The manual says it is 5W168 wege bulbs which would be very odd, but doable with technology and good optics. Of course, once I mentioned the 168 more so he beleives the manual is wrong and it is LEDs. The only 100% sure way to clear this up is visual inspection

It's got both in the same housing. The wedge bulb is for the taillight (illuminated with the headlights on) and the brake lights use the LED's (the advantage being that the LED's illuminate quicker, thus reducing reation time for the car behind you).

Thanks. I just found that out today. I took off the tail light and examined it. The bulbs that it does have just twist off but due to it being brand new and such a tight location it was just hard to get to. Anyway, at least it is settled and we were both right

Well, I learned something today. I did not know the RX330 had LED brake lights. The Vette we traded had a center LED brake light. If you have every noticed when you follow a C5 Corvette when the driver hits the brakes the center brake light will come on a fraction of a second befor the outer brake lights. Watch and you will see. Your eye will catch it.

I wished the tail lights of the RX330 were LED too. One more thing. Have you noticed that there is a big switch over to LED lights in all the traffic control lights at intersections these days. At least there is a big switch here in Houston. They are so much brighter!

Much brighter and much more cost efficient as well. They last longer and take up less energy. Perfect for its application.

The tail lights on the RX330 is LED as well. Not just the brake lights The LEDs as far as I could see with the eye comes on along with the center 168 wedge bulb for tail light application, however, only at a reduced brightness or power level. When you hit the brake, the wedge bulb doesn't get any brighter, but the LEDs definately get brighter.

As for the LED high mount or center mount brake light, many other cars have that as well. My Legend, NSX and most cars who use OEM trunk spoilers with the brake light in the spoiler all use LEDs. LEDs is just a natural way to go IMHO.
