Default Corvette to RX330!

Hello,

I am new to the forum. We just traded my wifes 2000 Corvette on a RX330. As you might have guessed my wife loves sports cars and loves the power when you press the go pedal. However, we have a 3 year old grandbaby and another grandbaby on the way so the Corvette had to go.

The search: I picked out a few vehicles for her to check out. We looked at the Toyota Highlander, Acura MDX, and the VW Touareg. She liked the Lexus the best so that is what we bought. We are supposed to pick it up Monday. I liked the performance package but she did not like that one because she wanted the wood on the steering wheel and shift ***. I liked the air suspension and the steering wheel shifter. Her car and her choice she won.

What she did not like: We both agreed that the rear end of the RX330 would look more balanced and more "sporty" if it had dual exhaust. Anybody here think it would be possible to dual this vehicle out and make it look factory? Ever see the back of the VW Touareg with the V8. It really gives it great performance look compared to the single exhaust.

We could use some help with the window tinting for the front and passenger windows. Tinting is a must here in Texas. That will be the first thing we do. I already read on another thread about Llumar brand tint. Is that the brand that matches the factory tint on the windows?

Oh yeah. Do you think we would be able to squeeze a LS1 in the engine compartment of the RX330? Just kidding about that one!!!

RXMike,

welcome fellow Texan! Are you from DFW? If so I recommend Sewell Lexus for tinting - they tinted my two front windows at no extra charge - they even tinted my IS with what they call "Huper-Optic" Tint - blocks not only the sunlight but keeps out the hot Texas heat! I've got the Performance Package RX330 and understand how you preferred it - maybe if you'd shown your wife the AFL headlights and the 18" Polished Graphites she woulda gone for it?

Jeff,

No we are not from the DFW area. We are from Houston. Sounds like our dealer was not as good as yours. When we mentioned getting the windows tinted the salesman said they could do that for $195.00. I like to fell out of the chair. I said we could probably get it done for about fifty bucks. He just said make sure you get metalic tint.

We did look at a RX with the performance package. She was not impressed with anything it came with except the adaptive cruise control. All that mattered to her was the wood. She said she has had performance since 1997 and now was ready to go "luxury" with the RX. She first drove a 98 Corvette then went to 2000 model because she liked the heads up display. She travels alot so it was her choice to get what she wanted. I just wished I had found this forum before we made a deal. We probably could have gotten much more for our money. Oh well, we will like the RX when we get it. By the way, it is black like yours but with black interior. Sure wished I could have gotten your graphite wheels when you sold them. I thought they really looked good on a black car/suv/rx330.

I have the Black/Ivory combo. I had my front two windows tinted at a local tint shop and they match perfectly. I ordered chrome factory Lexus wheels yesterday. Can't wait to get those on.

Congrats on the new babies, (the real one and the car). I think she will be happy with it.

It must be a wife thing, since I too was contemplating the Performance Package option, however my wife specifically asked for that WOOD STEERING WHEEL TOO! Since it's going to be her primary vehicle, what the wife wants the wife GETS!

Welcome to Clublexus. My personal opinion, dual exhuasts look silly on SUVs and Trucks. They are not sports sedans nor sports cars. Duals are factory rice on a SUV. IMO, it does not belong.

But on a Vette, HELL YEAH!
