New owner RX 350 AND window misaligned
Hi Everyone,
Just bought a very nice white one with all options and 170K on the clock from a friend. It needed a water pump (original, wasted bearing), front brakes, and an axle, so I got it pretty cheap. I do all the work myself and have a lift- this forum is a great resource for DIYs. The water pump was fun, seeing as how the o ring for water outlet pipe on the thermostat housing somehow managed to get folded over during reassembly-leaked like a sieve after I got it back together. The good thing is I'm very quick at doing this job after doing it twice!
The passenger side window will not auto power up- it hits the top and goes halfway down. I reset the windows and it still does it, and upon closer examination when the window gets to the top of rail it is hitting the weatherstrip and is not perfectly aligned in the slot, so I believe this is a safety feature to lower the window back down. Any ideas on this- is a guide worn out inside the door or is there and adjustment that can be made.
Thanks,
Don

There should be two guides inside the door for the glass to move on. I am suspicious, they are damaged somehow, so glass does not line up with the top slot well. yes, they do have sensor that will prevent someone from being choked, should they decide to stick head out the window and roll glass up.
You got to remove door trim and investigate. No other way.

Thanks for the info. I think you are right. I talked to the previous owner after posting this and found out that this window had been smashed to allow a crackhead to steal a diaper bag, of all things. He had the window replaced, but it was done using an aftermarket window with the tabs breaking soon after install. He went back to the shop and apparently they installed the proper tabs second time around- but I need to pull the panel off and see what's up.
