Best thing to do is this type of situation is to turn the car on (leave it in park) and get down there with a flashlight and press the pedal with your hand while looking up at the pedal assembly.
I know pads CLICK when switching in reverse. They reset themselves just yey much on shims when changing orientation of the force applied. Is it coming from front or rear?
I'd just lifted her up, wheels off, and check on how pads are set on bracket. Maybe shim broke or got lost.
Also, HIT the brakes or simply slow down? When you HIT the brakes, control arms move. Could be sign of CA bushing "getting there". If you feel it in steering wheel, it's ISS.
So I sprayed some w2 lube on the switch and peddle area no more clicking
hopefully it stays like that
You may wanna use some graphite or automotive grease (can't remember the name) because wd40 type sprays dry up over time and sometimes cause parts to become worse.
