2009 RX 350 Rack & Pinion
I am looking at a 2009 RX350 with 130,000 miles.
1. Do the rack & pinion issues I've read about affect that year?
2. If carfax says the exhaust manifold was replaced at 13,000 miles, is that a red flag?
3. Are there any specific issues I should be aware of before buying this beauty? THANKS!!!!

Rack and pinion seem to occur in all years ranging from 2004-2009. I wouldn't worry about exhaust manifolds, especially that long ago. Potential issues include rear wheel bearings, leaking water pump, cracking dashboard, and condensation in the headlights. Also make sure oil cooler line has been changed. All in all though, these are very reliable cars. Most of the "issues" were covered under factory warranty anyways.

Thanks for the speedy reply!
Carfax shows at
13,000 miles: " A/C hose/line replaced "
21,500 miles" " Engine oil cooler line(s) repaired/replaced "
50,000 miles: " Rear wheel bearing(s)/hub(s) replaced"
So looks like a few items on your list have been attended to.
I assume a rack and pinion repair would be listed if it had been done, but it's not there...does that most likely mean one is required? What's the likelihood it would get to 130,000 without that problem presenting itself? Or, if it hasn't been repaired, is it only a matter of time before it becomes an issue?
Cannot thank you enough...

I don't want to say anything, but I've seen them go as early as 45k miles, and some RX's with 200k on their original rack. That being said, I'd lean towards needing it at some point more so than not. On forums though, problems are always magnified because people never come on here to talk about how their rack isn't leaking, only when something goes wrong. I'm sure others will chime in.

Write down the VIN and call Lexus Corporate. They can tell you over the phone any and all maintenance done at Lexus service center. Mine was low miles one owner I bought from Mercedes of Denver with a good Carfax. Once I bought it I registered it at the Lexus owners site; http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/
After doing so, I could see all the maintenance done at Lexus that didn't show on the Carfax. I was surprised to see my rack among other things had recently been done. IIRC mine was replaced around 61k.
