Default Driver Headlight out, low and high beams

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and want to first introduce myself. My name is John and I drive a 2004 RX330, with 325,000 miles since new. Very, Very, proud Owner! Just recently my drivers side headlight went out. The low beam, high beam and the small bulb that sits in the high beam section - all out...

When I turn on the lights manually at the stalk, the drivers low beam will turn on and start flickering on/off until off completely. During this flickering time, I can hear a very faint buzzing sound that coincides with the light flickering. When the light flicks off, then buzzing stops, when the light flicks on, the faint buzz begins (likely the buzz precedes the flick)... The high beam remains inop the whole time.

On the working side, the passenger side, all the lights function as they should AND you can hear the very faint buzzing sound as well stay on the entire time I have the headlight on.

I've done numerous searches and I'm coming up with the ballast being the issue. However, this faint buzzing sound and on and off ; on and off; Could this be ballast not able to power on and stay on? Indicating that it indeed is the ballast?

Thanks very much for your time and support.
John.

Ballasts can make a buzzing sound. If we assume that the ballast is bad, that would solve the problem for the low beam. The high beam and the smaller lamp are independent of the low beam. All 3 are stand-a-lone circuits, not connected with or dependent on anything else. They have their own separate fuses. The only thing common is the control module.

Swap the bulbs left to right, right to left. Don’t touch glass on bulb. If good bulb lights up in other socket, you need a bulb. If not, you need more help.
