It happened the first time with my eBay key...and I couldn't start it either. But the other 2 times it happened with my wife's original key that came with car. But when she trips the error, the car will start....it just thinks the key is still in the ignition and won't lock.

Lasted about 3 weeks I'm guessing. Driving everyday. I've got some gremlin in that security system or ignition cylinder...I dunno. Now it did it on my key again, it does start when it does it now..just can't lock the doors cause it thinks the key is in the ignition. Im unplugging the battery this time for 10min and see if that helps.

When I unplug the negative cable for 1min...the ecu clears out...the car almost dies (cause the plugs are over due for a change) and the check engine+VSC lights go out (cause I need to replace the thermostat...car us running too cold...cause the thermostat is stuck wide open, but what the hell, it's 95 out with 100℅ humidity...I don't mind...and I'm to lazy to change for just that)

This is driving me crazy..gonna change out remote batteries next

Help... please

Have you lubed the ignition lock cylinder? If the car thinks the key is still in the ignition, I would try that. My service advisor recommends a small amount of WD40 on the key.

Will do...about 3 months ago I used graphite powder in the ignition. Still safe to use the wd40?

Thank You,
