Rear Power Lift Gate Issues
2007 RX350 w/rear power lift gate option.
Rear gate doesn't want to work on perfect cadence. As follows:
1. Press rear power button, it starts to open and then immediately stops and closes.
2. Press the button again, it opens.
3. Press to close, it always closes.
No matter how long you wait between pressing the power button between steps 1 and 2, it always opens on the every-other-try attempt.
I'd like to fix myself vs getting ripped off at the dealer. Any hints as to what might be wrong?

First sparsely lube the strut rods with a light silicone. Wipe mostly dry or they will attract dust and dirt.
If this doesn't work you need to replace the struts. This is a DIY if you are at all mechanically inclined.
$30-$40 a pair from Amazon.

I just replaced mine, same issue. It will get worse and worse, and in my case, it decided to come down and nail my 13 year old and give her a mild concussion.
Get it fixed ASAP.
Now mine is having the opposite effect intermittently, it won't go DOWN, it starts to then starts a rapid beep and goes back UP. The higher temps we have had the last day or so have increased the pressure, so it is actually hard to close!
Close manually is ok, or if it is being stubborn, a very gentle assist and it is fine.
