04 RX 330 : Car thinks Key is still in the ignition! Plz help
Well, just got my wife this Lexus RX 330 yesterday, stayed up all night checking out car...bought on a rush (BIG mistake) and after sitting in driver seat for couple hours reading manual and checking out car, messing with functions (Programming Home Link, setting up seats and whatnot)
I noticed that the last time I put the key in Ignition to start it up, the steering wheel didn't pop out like normal...and didn't think about it til I turned it off and removed the key and hear the 'Ding..Ding...Ding' key reminder alarm going off...and the key fob won't lock doors! Car still thinks Key is in Ignition.
When we got the car, I noticed the time was off...like they disconnected battery to reset ECU or replaced the battery which is new. Anyhoo...Anyone else having this problem.? The interior light does not come on so I'm thinking it's in the ignition cylinder not door.
Anyone have any luck spraying WD40 in the key slot or I saw a video on a Toyota with similar problem and guy disconnected one of the 2 prong leads at end of ignition barrel in Dash.
PS- Windows won't roll up/down by placing key in door either, and trunk lid won't lift with FOB either.
Thanks,
Sav

That's what i am thinking. I just got the car and its going to be on the road daily not sitting. Even though the interior light is not on, maybe the ECU or BCM's on the car will be drawing power due to the fact they think the key is in the ignition. I think the dealer was shady definitely...
Anyone else experience this problem? I've seen post about the door locking actuator going bad and the interior lights staying on...hate to have to get a new ignition for this car! Ugg..

Update on situation
Well, as I thought when I bought this car and the time was off....they reset the ECU to get the key fob working.
Which leads me to believe that's its a relay hopefully and not a ignition barrel (switch) or security system.
Any thoughts? I unplugged battery to reset computer and all is good. Funny thing is its got a brand new battery in it...which means something might be running while the system thinks Key is in the ignition... And doors are closed.
Help please...
Thanks,
Sav
