Angry 2007 rx 350

I bought this used vehicle in Naples in January 2012. In May,2014,my wife gave me the "there is a noise in the steering line". Vehicle had 85,000 miles. Took to dealer and was told steering rack/shaft needed to be replaced as well as rack/pinion. I have driven Toyotas for 40 years and never heard of such an issue let alone experienced it. Got a copy of service history and discovered the same work done in February 2011 at 51890 miles. Got work done ( cost $2207.10 in total) ,then contacted Lexus USA who took no responsibility for this nor gave any reason why this would have to be replaced twice in 33,000 miles.

My faith in Toyota/Lexus has been shattered as was the no responsibility of Lexus USA towards this issue.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue??

You're not alone my 05 RX330 only have 46K miles and the steering rack start to leak Lexus dealer quotes $1700 for the job, call Lexus customer services file a case and Lexus offer only $300, I am extremely disappointed at Lexus reliability, my next car won't be a Lexus.

Unfortunately, since buying my 2005 RX330 a short time ago, I too found out there is a leak issue with the rack on the RX models. I asked the service guy at our local Lexus dealer, and he said it happens all the time and at the same location (passenger side). He said they're surprised a recall was never issued for it and are still waiting for one. I guess it's not a serious enough safety issue for Lexus to do so but still poor on Lexus's part.

I think the original problem was with one of the OEM suppliers as most of the failures seem to be 04 and 05 models although there seems to be a small number of 07 failures as well.

Mine had to be replaced at 73k.
