2005 Lexus RX330 Low Gas Alerts
First, I want to apologize ahead of time as i may be using a thread that is not relevant but I couldn't figure out what my next step should be. I have recently bought a 2005 Lexus RX330. I must say that I have been pretty good finding out different settings and the likes from the User Manual. But there is one thing that has completely stumped me!
Is there not some way to set the number of kilometers/miles until empty? I just find the gss gauge rather non specific. Every car that I have owed for the last twenty years has had this feature, either by red or flashing reminder or even a verbal cue to let you know that the fuel is low. My greatest worry is that because I have always had some kind of reminder, I am going to forget to routine check the gas gauge. I know that there are much more important things to focus on, but this is just a pestering little thing that I would like to resolve. It wouldn't surprise me if I had missed some minute little thing that would take care of this issue.
Thanks so very much for your time and attention as it is much appreciated.

After green light lights on, you could drive 30-50 miles. But remember, it is very bad for fuel pump to drive with almost empty fuel tank. Pump could catch some air and fail.

Like many topics on the RX330, this one has been discussed in multiple occasions here at CL. One just needs to search. For example:

And plenty of other variations on this theme.

Funny that we need more and more idiot lights. BMW has it even in different shades (getting more red for example, as the impending unwanted situation increases). How did our grandfathers create a civilisation without these things?
Sold my 2006 BMW 3-series in 2010. Guy phoned me today to enquire if I can tell where's the jack stowed in the car, he's got a flat. Think I must pop off an e-mail to BMW to consider an electronic jack
tracing device. Things are just getting too much and too think my buyer is a well educated person.
