Ticket for Factory Tint in Cali???
Got pulled over in an '05 Thundercloud RX330
No aftermarket tint has been added, cop gave us a ticket for the tint being too dark on the front windows??
Anyone have an idea of how I can fight this, or remove factory tint? I'm assuming I'm within the law but I don't know how to prove it.
*ADDITIONAL COMMENT* My front windshield is not tinted at all, this was just regarding passenger and driver side windows.

The factory doesn't offer tint on the front windows. If the front windows are tinted, then somebody had them tinted at some point. You can go to a tint shop and they can remove it.

There is tint on the front passenger and driver windows, and they both have the lexus info on them.
not sure why it's not letting me post a pic of it, but it basically says:
(I'm reading this off a picture of it from my wife)
LEXUS
Temperate
ASAHI
M2H5 AS2
DOT-20
43R-00035
A002345
UVS
with like 3 or 4 little logos off to the left?

Run it past a local Lexus dealership to see what they have to say. Perhaps you could get something in writing to indicate there is indeed no tint on the front windows.
FWIW, there are allowances in CA law which permits for front window tint due to medical conditions. Perhaps the person who owned it prior to yourself had them treated. Window tint film is not the only way to have this done.

All the info you read off the window is on all windows with tint or not. It's there by law from the factory. Even the windshield will have info like that. The tint does not come with that information on it. The tint would just lie over that info and you would still be able to read it. I guarantee there is no car ever sold in the USA to come with tint on the front windows from the factory. Also, a good tint shop will not show any kind of edge where the tint begins. So if you see no edge, then the person that had it tinted went to a good shop. If you want it removed a shop will probably charge about 50-100 bucks. I would still make sure you go to a good shop to remove it. If you just try pulling on it, it could bend the track of the glass and create wind noise or worse break the glass.

Car companies DO NOT place tint on the front windows because that is illegal in some states and they don't want to be held liable. If you have tint, it was done by a THIRD PARTY!
It's very easy to take off. The following are things you need...
1 razor blade
1 rag
1 bottle of Goo Gone (preferred) but simple green will work as well
Use the blade to grab an edge. Pull it off. Rub Goo Gone. Clean window with razor. Wipe clean
Get ticket signed off at any CHP station or any officer can sign off as well
