Default 2007 RX needs new A/C COMPRESSOR

'07 350 with only 77k miles on it.
Car stalled on the road...
Dealer diagnosed the problem as A/C compressor "seizing up" probably due to a leak in one of the seals and all refridgerant leaking out.

so, need to change a/c compressor, a/c dryer, a/c comp. dryer and line seals and a/c flush kit.
Parts - $1200
Labor $600

Obviously an overblown estimate
Seems that DENSO is OEM for a/c, so I found these parts online -

Rest for about another $50..

Would you recommend going with the above part? Is that what dealer would install?

Local mechanic said, he'd install for $200.
seems fair..

I haven't seen many compressors fail on RX with such low miles...

Thanks.

My '99 RX needed a new A/C compressor at 50k miles. But extended warranty covered the repair. I remember the cost was somewhere north of $600. The dealer used remanufactured parts, not sure if they will in your case. I'll let someone else chime in about the best repair route to go. Good luck.

Try a Toyota dealer, instead fo the Lexus. If it is still too much, take it to the ind. mech. I would also replace the receiver-dryer, because if any compressor debris got loose, it ended up in there.

Just to update everyone.

I contaced Lexus customer service, they agreed to give me $500 towards repair.
Even with this credit, the cost to repair was about $300 more than my mechanic quoted me.

Dealer dropped another $100 from their estimate, and I decided to fix it there.

Glad to hear Lexus customer service and the dealer gave you a break on the repair cost. Thanks for the update.
