RX 330 AC squeal
05 Lexus, after one day of no start, AC squealed for about a couple of seconds upon cold start. It's used on a daily basis and this is the longest engine has been off since I've owned it for a couple of months. I've put 7000 miles on already and it has ~144000 miles. It has slight pull to the right but a lot of upkeep was done by previous second owner. I'm not experiencing this any more but was wondering what could cause this symptom and should I recharge it. Last owner had condenser and other related parts replaced and system was evacuated. Only compressor is original from what I see in receipts. Want to do preventive maintenance if needed. Thanks for your help....
I have the same issue. It's the accessory belt, slipping. I did tighten it a little (from the info on a thread here), I didn't want to over tighten it, so I did so, just enough to get rid of the squeal, that was more than 6 months ago, and it's back now, a little louder and longer belt chirp (additional 15k miles on the belt). It only happens when the belt is ice cold. If I wait 5 minutes the belt doesn't chirp. I usually don't even use the AC, much less right when I start the car. I should snug up the belt a little though...

scroll down to the first step of the rx330 DIY, there is a diagram which shows you where the adjustment bolt is. there is a set screw you need to loosen first, IIRC.
What I did was I did a half or whole turn on the belt (also tested the belt tension with my finger before and after), and then I started the engine, and then turned on the AC. I tighten it just enough for the chirp to go away, because I was fearful of over tightening. Now, I don't care too much, I just wait a few minutes, then turn on the AC. no chirp.

there is a small free tool available at most auto parts stores to check your belt it slips into the grooves to check for depth and excessive wear you may want to get one to check your belt and replace as needed usually squeal is a sign of wear and time to replace
