It does look worse for the wear friend. Mine went out fairly early too. It is not an expensive fix. Purchase the control arms, or the bushings.

Loosen the FRONT LOWER engine mount, but do not take bolts all the way off. Allow for play which will be needed. You can then Loosen the bolts for the side engine mounts, etc. etc.

It is not hard, just a lot of bolts to loosen. Obviously take off car tire. You will have to REMOVE the side mounts in order to remove the lower contorl arm.

Then have the bushings replaced or simply replace the control arm as a whole.

Bottome line, yours look bad. If they are not already torn through, they will be soon!

You can thank that wonderful **** they put on the roads up here in the winter time.... Ruins everything. What I really cant understand is where are the Tree hugger`s when it comes to stuff like that? As far as your original question, yeah I would replace them.

I am in AZ and about to do the same repair, so I think the salt may not have much to do with it. I replaced the rotors twice until I came searching on this forum for another reason why streering wheel wobbles on decal.

I ordered these for under $100 for both sides http://www.ebay.com/itm/261264681679...S:1123&vxp=mtr

check out my thread on the steering vibration aka 'death wobble'. This is exactly what it is - bushings.

Holy Crap it was a lot more than 4 bolts to drop sub frame, this job was much longer than expected. You need a lift. Hope this solves issue will post back.

Definitely post back details. This has become an increasingly common issue with these cars. I plan to do a DIY but i havent yet found the time.

Changed struts, mount and control arms. No wobble now on 15 min test ride. Took over 10 hrs to do job with a lift. I am not fast and had help. Probably take 6 hours now to do complete job after screwing with sub frame bolts and the spring tool for new strut.

Hi,

Anyone know an official DYI with pics for this?

Bigdog100, is the Dorman control arm allright? Compare to the Blue Print etc. the price is so different. If they are ok I might get them too.

Default Control arm

I just replaced the right side control arm.
Jack up car, place jack stands and remove tire.
1) Removal all of the nuts that are holding the motor mount.
2) Remove the nut and bolt that is holding the control arm bushing on.
3) Remove the nuts and bolt that are holding the ball joint on.
4) Remove the two nuts that are connected to the transmission mount.
5) Place a piece of wood on your jack and jack up the engine at the oil pan. Keep jacking until the motor mount is clear of the bracket.
6) Remove the motor mount, then remove the two bolts that are attaching the arm to the frame.
Good clip to watch:
