Default Matte Paint

Has anyone ever seen a matte painted RX? Just curious as I have been reading about plasti-dipping my car and am seriously thinking about going down the road of trying this stuff out and working my way to covering the whole body. My paint unfortunately is becoming a bit tired up front and with a few scratches here and there (thanks to inconsiderate people), the temptation is there to repaint the car. Now nothing would beat a bona fide pear respray from a reputable shop, however to get a pearl respray would be prohibitively expensive, so hence the search for something more durable and within a reasonable budget.

I had thought about vinyl wrapping, but the cost of that is quite high and it's subject to a bit of wear and can be a pain to put on, especially for a whole car. A mate mentioned plasti-dip and from what I have read and seen so far, it looks really promising with some fantastic results. The fact I can remove it afterwards without further damaging the underlying paint sounds like a great idea and frankly the price is quite attractive.

Which brings me back to my first question. Has anyone seen a matte painted RX? I would most likely look down the road of adding a "metalizer" as they call it to give it that sheen or even the "pearlizer" to "respray" my car to get away from just a matte paint. The second question of course is, has anyone plasti-dipped an RX and what were the results?

Not seen any RX in matte black, however, there are a number of IS matte black here at CL. As with most topics, this one has been discussed at least a little bit here in the forums:

Plasti-dip is a really good product. I have had the rear emblems on my silver 04 plasti-dipped for a few months now and it holds up really well. I would imagine that it would be rather difficult to plati-dip an SUV, but I am sure it's possible. Plasti-dip does hold up really well to the elements once it's had time to cure. I will gladly post pictures of my rear emblems if anyone wants me to.

Plasti-Dip looks quite nice, although it might take a lot of work to do on a whole car.

It looks nice and it doesn't look that hard to apply to a whole car (watching some professional & amateur videos). Of course the professionals would probably get a better finish than a amatuer. The best part of the entire thing is that if it doesn't look good, then you can peel it straight off to get back to original duco. Given the forgiving nature of it, it's more of a question of why not rather than anything else.

They have metalizers and pearlizer's and glossifiers so that might make it look closer to factory sheen than anything else. I am looking further into it and seeing where I can go from here.
