Default Would Lexus cover rust fix on a '07?

I have a 2007 RX which is developing rust spots on the rear hatch coming from under the plastic trim above license plate. I see bubbles and rusty color on both sides of the trim.

I've seen this evolve on another car and it starts from a tiny bubble and ends up eating through the metal.

Thanks

A cover might make it worse as it can trap moisture. Covers can also be a huge hassle when they are wet and you want to drive the car. If you see rust developing it's bet to deal with it now rather than wait until it eats through. Sand, prime and paint.

Rust is covered within the 48K, 5 year warranty. Might want to check your rust warranty, maybe different than basic.

If you are under 5 years and 48K, there's a good chance they will address the issue. Key words "a good chance."

most rust coverages only cover you if the rust starts from inside and works its way out. in other words, the metal undderneath the paint has to be defective causing rust.

its still worth a shot, if you are a loyal customer at your dealer, and you get all your work done there, they could use there "Goodwill" warranty to cover you, might be worth dropping that term too.

Hmm OK doesn't sound like that will work out. I'm over the mileage and time.
