Default Key Fob/Lock Issue

Don't know if this has been dicussed elsewhere. Couldn't find anything after a quick search.

2006 RX330...yesterday when locking the car the 'beep' wouldn't sound and the front doors wouldn't lock. I could hear the back doors lock. I could only lock the car manually with the key. However, if you hit the unlock, all would open and the beep sounded and the lights flashed.

I removed and replaced the fob battery (it was probably original) and that cured it for a day. This morning, same exact problem as yesterday - no lock in the front, no beep when locking, back doors lock. The unlock works fine.

Any ideas?

Update:
This apparently affects only the drivers side door lock...all other lock appear to function correctly, with the exception of the beep and light flash. May be an intermittent problem. Wondering if it is the actuator, but the locks works fine with the manual switch and key in the door.

I will try using the other key fob to see if the fob itself is the problem. Don't really want to have to replace that!

Another Update:
I finally got around to getting the replacement actuator from Rock Auto. Despite it being identified on the website as a Dorman product, it is made by AISIN. The OEM is AISIN. Once I figured out there were 2 connections inside the door (handle rod and key lock) behind the actuator (this was all by touch), then things worked a little better. Broke some tabs on the trim for the window garnish triangle so I will be spending a couple of dollars to replace that, but overall I figured I saved $$$ on this DIY repair. Who designed this disaster anyway?

Sounds like a door lock actuator.

It's been two months or so since my original post. No problems since 1/29/13....I wonder if just mentioning it on ClubLexus was enough for the problem to cease!

I agree that the problem is probably the actuator...I'll wait and see.

No doubt, the car was embarrassed having it's 'bits' discussed on an open forum. I know mine is mortified every time I talk about it's exhaust.
