Default Rear hatch won't open with remote

As the title states my rear hatch won't open with the remote. It opens manually and will auto close when I push the button on the bottom of the door. Any suggestions?

First, try to rule out the remote. You should have two. Does the second one work the rear hatch? If the second key operates the door proper then the other one may just need to be taken apart and cleaned. Check the battery as well.

If not possible, try the button to the left of the steering wheel. Does that open it? If it does not then it is not the key per se. If it does open then your key may just need cleaned or the battery replaced as noted above.

Please note that all the doors need to be unlocked for the rear hatch to open with the key or button. You may need to press the unlock button on the key twice to accomplish this or by using the unlock button on the driver door. Once all the doors are unlocked you can try the open button for the hatch on the key or to the left of the steering wheel.

On my 2007 RX350 I routinely open the rear hatch with all the doors locked, especially when wheeling out groceries from the supermarket. After loading the groceries I then unlock the doors. Maybe this is one of those customer settings that only Lexus can do?

Yes, there could be a difference in the settings. However, I think if the OP followed my instructions they should hold true for any 2nd Generation RX no matter the settings with all the doors unlocked. First need to figure out if it is the key fob or other first. If it opens with everything unlocked then we can move on to settings.
