Sorry, need answer to oil type. Thanks
Hi, everyone,
For some reason, I felt like during the hot Texas Summer I would run Syn 10W30 as an extra margin of protection. Would normally run 5W30 during cooler part of year. I have a 2007 RX350. Am I just kidding myself, or, am I ok? I don't want to damage the engine in any way.
Thanks for your responses.

5W-30 all year round, per Manual, can not go wrong. Full synthetic of course.

Yup, I go with these guy`s ^^^^. Believe it or not, the engine will run cooler on the recommended viscosity. Never go up in viscosity unless the motor has some other kind of problems going on. And even then you would only be masking the problem.

Both the 10w30 and 5w30 will be 30 weight oil (the second number) at operating temperature, so switching to 10w30 will not offer you any additional benefit despite the ambient temperature being high where you are.
Have a look at the attached chart that I received from Lexus Canada. You can run 5w30, 5w20 or 0w20 in the 2007 RX. The 20 weight might actually help the engine run cooler, believe it or not. I've attached it as picture and a .pdf so you can download a copy of the .pdf is so desired.

LOL...just noticed someone posted a link to my post at bobistheoilguy.com. I also have a chart for Toyota vehicles posted at that site and this site, if you happen to own a Toyota.

Lol...no, I don't know that much about oil.
What I do know how to do, is to pester auto makers with phone calls and emails until they cough up the information I'm looking for.
