I've got a 2008 RX 350 without the power tailgate option. Usually when I unlock the car, I'm able to use the latch above the license plate to open the trunk. Lately, however, the trunk doesn't always release. I'm not sure if it's even unlocking or if there's a problem with the latch itself. The weird thing is, though, that if I let the car sit locked for a while and then unlock it, the trunk opens but if you shut it and try to open it immediately after, it won't.

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue, or has any ideas on how to approach this problem before I take it to the dealership.

 

I am experiencing the same trouble where the tailgate opens intermittently. Sometimes it opens with the key and dashboard remote button and sometimes it doesn't open at all...even when I manually try to open it from the back. (I have not tried unscrewing the access panel.) Hoping that someone has some advice.
