I had the 30K service done which is the same as the 60K. Service was done at the local Toyota dealership, since my Lexus dealer is over 90 miles away. The state is California and it cost $270.

What can cost so much?
Save that cash for a set of new tires.

Number 1 below is why it costs more.

1. Total replacing of the brake fluid, bleeding, measure pads and rotor runout.
2. Rotate tires.
3. Oil and Filter Change.
4. Replacement Cabin and Engine filter.
5. Inspection and road test of vehicle.

I am sorry for those who are not into DIY's. 60K is basically an Oil change, plus Cabin and Engine Air filter change with a side of tire rotation.

Which reminds me my 60K is coming up.

1. My brake fluid is good.
2. I have a prescribed tire rotation sked already.
3. Cabin and Engine Air Filters were recently replaced.
4. I am not due for an oil change yet.

So I just have to wait.

However I am beginning to fell as slight shimmy when applying the brakes...maybe time to turn rotors. Scheduled on next inspection.

FWIW, my 60k service at a Lexus dealership was $364, which included a new battery which I replaced for comfort.

Since brake fluid (DOT 3, DOT 4) will pickup moisture it needs to be flushed and replaced. Manufactures such as Lexus require this every 30K to ensure reliability. Some vehicles (NOT LEXUS) can use DOT 5 silicone based fluid that don't have the moisture problem.

SO lets say $100 for brake work, $20 Rotate Tires, Oil & Filter $50 for Synthetic, Cabin & Engine Filters about $40, road test ? maybe FREE?

That is a grand total of $210 maybe $250 tops. Forgot cookies & drinks so that pushes it up to the $300, sure it does!

Totally agree! The Toyota dealership was cheaper but not by very much.

I bought my RX new at Lexus of Austin and have had it serviced there and don't plan on changing...Just curious about priceing at other dealerships..Looks to me very reasonable..Why go any where else..Peace of mind is worth something.

Peace of mind = priceless. Considering the overall maintenance cost of the vehicle compared to others, it's really not bad. Not everyone's into DIY either.

I didn't make it to the 60K service but I know my SA would never let me do anything that isn't absolutely necessary.

The last time I asked about a local Toyota dealer for 60K service on a Lexus RX400h it was in the $700s, Concord Lexus wants $900+, end up doing everything at my friend's local mechanic shop, total cost including OE parts $200
