Default DOT 5 Brake Fluid?

Hello,
I was looking for some opinions for the next time I get the brake fluid changed. I have cross-drilled rotors and carbon-fibre pads on all four corners now. I was thinking I changing to DOT 5 fluid instead of DOT 3 which is currently in the system.
My only concern is that I had the brake recall a few months back and the claim from Toyota is that brake fluid, other than OEM, does not contain polymers which can cause the flange on the master cylinder to deteriorate.

Any thought and suggestions,
Chris

Am curious to know more as well more about the new parts they used on the recall. Same for same, or do the new parts behave better with non-OEM fluids?

DOT4 is about as high as you want to go, don't do anything with 5.

5 is silicone based. Dot 4 and below are not. Your system is not designed to run Silicone based brake fluid. It will eat away your seals/components fairly fast.

You can use DOT 5.1, which is not silicone based and is backward compatible with DOT 3 and 4 fluids. I have used Motul 5.1 with success.

Just use DOT 4. You`ll be fine. Just make sure it`s Toyota approved,I would anyway.
